Ron, I don't think they have a web site. I'll check with my buddy, John LeMaster. He's got one of those puppies on order.

I just got a Zum and called Bruce with some questions. He is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to talk to. He was ery helpful and undersanding of the dumb questions that a beginner will ask.
Also it is one pretty guitar.

As John H. said, no website for Zum. I think Bruce is too busy building great steel guitars to mess with a website. He is, as everyone says, a great guy. I was able to finally meet Bruce in St. Louis this year, after having spoken with him several times on the phone.

Yep, my new S-12U Zumsteel should be ready by the end of this month. It will be set up exactly as my Carter is. It will be interesting to compare the two.

I like the new nickname/slogan Wayne. Don't know what it means, but I like it.

You are right about Bruce. He works morning, noon and night on his craft. (someone once revealed, however, that every now and then he catches a 30 minute afternoon nap with Miss Kittie!)

Regarding the business - Bruce and Dorene are quality, ethical, dedicated partners in their 25-year venture. Combined with their personal commitments to excellence and their no corners cut approach to each and every guitar - Wouldn't you say they've raised the bar in craftsmanship?
(Miss Kitty is their cat)
By the way, I share my husband with three zums. He's got another on order. It's the seasonal approach to making guitars last. One for each season, and rotate every two years. He swears the strings last longer Image
I think that was Bruce's recommendation.
[This message was edited by Donna Dodd on 08 November 2003 at 04:24 AM.]

You are right about Bruce. He works morning, noon and night on his craft.
It Shows too, look at the roster of players he has using his guitars.
Just a few are

John Hughey
Doug Jernigan
Hal Rugg
Tommy Dodd

and they all sound GREAT!

If I had this group of players using a product of mine, I would have to work days and nights too to keep them satisfied,
Which he apparently does. I've heard John Hughey say that the Zum is the best guitar he's ever played, doesn't get any better than that.

BTW
He doesn't need a Website, evidently he has found the key to success.

I just received my new Zum after a 9 month wait. The wait is worth it! The Zum is the best guitar I have ever owned. I have gone through an MSA, BMI, Excel, Carter, and a Cougar. None were as nice as the Zum. Bruce builds a truly great guitar. I am one happy camper! Larry J. Walton, NY

When you make that comparison between your
new Zum and your Carter, please post your
findings here on the Forum as I think this
would be a very interesting subject.

Just sold a 1986 Zum. Hated to see it go, but the new one is scheduled to be shipped next week. Bruce is one of the most helpful guys around. Almost 9 months wait for this one. I'm sure every minute is worth while!!!!

Although there are several high quality manufacturers out there, most with websites,to the best of my knowledge,Bruce does not have a website. However without bashing any other brands of steel guitars I have owned,I have to say that the Zum I currently own is the finest sounding steel I have ever owned. Bar none!

Zums are truly one of the REAL steel guitars out there. No comprimise on quality or sound. Mr. Zumsteg just revolutionized the modern steel guitar with his new changer design. Makes the other modern steels weep with shame. They are worth every penny and the wait.

Mark, I saw your guitar two weeks ago in Bruce's shop. Bruce knew exactly the guitar I bought from you.

Ben, Good to hear the new guitar is nearly ready. How does she look? How are things going with your Zum? I think Bruce remembers nearly every guitar he has ever built. There are several fine guitars out there, but there are none finer than the Zums. I can't wait to hear more about his new changer system......
[This message was edited by Mark Kelchen on 27 November 2003 at 09:17 AM.]

I have two Zums. 2002 d-10 8&5 and a sd-10 red white and blue lightning bolt that's a 2003 model. There are no better built or better sounding guitars on the planet. IMHO.

I've had my Zum since 1983!!!! From day one, 0 problems...From day one, sound A1.....And this is a guitar with a lot of road on it. But the most impressive part is for 20 years I only had to work on the top. (with occational oil stops) With that kind of pedegree ,Bruce does not need a web site! Image Image
