Absolutely not (right, fellas?) You just have to love Fender Steels to be welcome in this club - that's the only qualification necessary! And if you do, you'll probably get one sooner or later anyway . . .
[This message was edited by Rick Alexander on 13 January 2005 at 06:38 PM.]
Does one have to own a Fender to be "in the club"?

You are right Rick. You only have to promise to own one in your lifetime. Fenders are habit forming though, watch out or you will end up like this...

Just thinking out loud here Guys !!!
There is a couple thing that should be done before this gets to big .
#1 is this OK with Jody Carver ?
#2 should there be some kind of disclaimer so nothing reflects on J. C
.
#3 Should this be OK with all !
Jodys plak (SGHF) would be a nice letter head
[This message was edited by Bob Hickish on 16 January 2005 at 09:36 AM.]

I guess I need to clarify some things...
This club is "dedicated" to Jody Carver. Jody's input will be as much as he wants. This man is a wealth of information relating to Fender and non-pedal steel guitars. The actual name is Jody Carver's "Fender Stringmaster Club."
I hope Jody and everyone else participates. I think you may have noticed that there are no dues to pay.
I will put on record that Jody Carver is in no way responsible for this club. If he does not want his name associated with this club I am sure we will honor his request.
Now that the legal "stuff" is over, can we have some fun?

Jody, who are some of those guys in the photo? We know the obvious ones, but who's Ralph Hanzel, Al Meyers, Jim Kelly, and that's not Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith is it?
Dang! Now you tell me! I already sent it in.

Howard asks...Guitar Boogie" Smith is it?
Yes Howard and at that time Smith also owned his own music store..Ralph Hanzel was a well known guitarist in the Michigan area,,his wife and he did a duo, They called themselves
Hanzel and Gretel. Jim Kelly was a bass player and owned his own business which was Kelly's Bar and Grill. I dont recall Al Meyers,,,I beleive he was Meyer Cohens half brother.I dont know what half,,maybe "half and half".

Basil,
I want to thank you for posting the newsletter on your site. This should get some people off the fence.
Basil has offered to host the Fender Stringmaster Club web-site. I think it would be a great idea!
To all Members:
What do you want to see on this site!
I know we need a humor section for Howard R.

Give Basil some ideas and I'm sure he can go from there.
Keep the membership coming. Email me with the request and I will get you on the list.
NO, I will never do anything with your email address except send you club stuff.
I still need some people to write an article on several different issues.
Tunings- discuss variations, etc.
Tablature- One song per issue?
History- Fender and other steels
Tips & Tricks- How did he do that?
If you want to participate, please let me know.
For now, GO PRACTICE!
Gary
