Jack Phillips first pedal steel album coming July 12, 2024

Post by Jordan Stern »

Lone Star Reserve Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of Jack Phillips' first pedal steel album, entitled "Cooks in the Kitchen, Volume 1." I am sure many of you have seen Jack's amazing performances at the Dallas Steel Jamboree, and I think you will be blown away kinds of things Jack recorded on this album at then just 18 years of age. Guitarist Cameron Baker co-fronts the band with Jack, and bassist Greg Norris and drummer Jordan Stern round out the quartet.

The album will be available for CD purchase, and on all major streaming services on July 12th. We will drop a preview track on July 1st.

Track List:
1.) Four
2.) At E's
3.) Song of India
4.) Gravy Waltz
5.) Joy Spring
6.) Sunny

Jack is an incredible young talent. Hard to distinguish his playing from Emmons. I know he is a devoted disciple of Buddy Emmons so it's no surprise. I will get a copy asap.

Jack Phillips is an amazing musician.

He and his very supportive parents came to my home here in Spicewood TX to purchase the 1965 Emmons wraparound he's now playing. I wanted this guitar to go to an aspiring talented youngster, not a collector or dealer. My trusted friend Bobby Flores assured me that Jack was that player. I believe he was 14 or 15 years of age at the time.

The kid's playing literally took me to school that day to the extent that I was embarrassed to demonstrate the guitar for him, such was his technique and musical acumen at that age.

When they visited and picked up the guitar, his mother told me "well, actually he's really a fiddler." WHAT?! :whoa: He's been demonstrating that talent the last couple of years at the TSGA Jamboree where, in addition to being all over the map on steel, he's one of the house band fiddlers onstage backing the other steel players on the show. Such is this young man's undeniable talent.

I can attest that any purchasers of this recording will be more than astounded by his music.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Jack and Myself attended the Bobby Flores band camp. He was there for Fiddle and I was there for Pedal Steel. I remember him coming over and saying Hi and was enthused about the instrument. Now,.............he is a monster on steel.

Congrats Jack and look forward to hearing and seeing more of you.
