In 1940, a number of distributors began blowout sales of National resonators due to their discontinuation. A few stragglers comprised of leftover parts escaped the factory even after the War ended, but production of new bodies was over by the time the War began. National continued to list resonators in the 1942 catalog because they still had old inventory to dump.Mark Eaton wrote:I’ve studied Dobro history over the years a lot more than National history, and not to split hairs, but in reading multiple sources, I have seen mention of National, like its “cousin” Dobro, was still producing resonator guitars in 1941.
