Lloyd Green's current setup?
Does anyone know - does Lloyd still play a Sho-Bud? I don't have "regular" tv, so I never get to see any of these guys on the shows on RFD/other.
Just curious what Lloyd might be playing now, and his current copedent...

as far as i can figure (the internet as my only source of info), lloyd green has kept his rig pretty constant. same ldg, fender twin, and copedent. i think he has adopted a bl710 pickup in place of the bud's single coil.
every time i think of buying more gear or changing something, i keep thinking of what lloyd sounds like with my setup, and then i go and practice!

Couldn't have said it better! Good insight!! I hope you're also listening to all the Bob Lucier you can get your hands on!...Kudos!
I thought Nashville was the roughest, but I know I’ve said the same about them all.

Well...it's the tribute page I was referring to, as Lloyd doesn't have a site of his own...Donny Hinson wrote:Maybe...he doesn't think it's that important?Tim Russell wrote:I see him playing a JCH double at the steel guitar convention back some years ago (youtube clips). There's not really any info. on his website concerning the steel/etc.

Lloyd only played that JCH for a little while after he came back from Ear injury; many years ago. Lloyd currently and since he received it; plays his LDG, just like seen here recently-ish>

And this is Lloyd's set up for all that time and still currently.

That is a very simplistic tuning...Ricky Davis wrote:Lloyd only played that JCH for a little while after he came back from Ear injury; many years ago. Lloyd currently and since he received it; plays his LDG, just like seen here recently-ish>

Just goes to show you that true talent lies with the player, not necessarily the guitar. And I would be lost without that 4th string E-Eb lower...

Lloyd is amazing. With 3X4, and not even lowering his top E, he can play the most heavenly music from an S10 and it is instantly recognisable as his style and his alone. I am humbled.
Sometimes we get so carried away with all the pulls we can have simply because modern mechanisms allow it that we forget the elegance that comes with sheer simplicity. It takes someone like Lloyd to remind us of this.
As a corollary, recall how amazing the late Ben Keith sounded. His Emmons p/p had 3 pedals and 1 (that's right, just one!) knee-lever which lowered both Es.
Thanks, Lloyd, for reminding us that is isn't how complex the copedant is that matters, it's what the player produces from it that truly makes the musical statement.

The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being.
