Hey Bob,

Whatever the cost is, I need to reserve a table to sell a few steel related items.

Stuff like: several MULLEN bellcranks, several OLD changer parts, miscellaneous SHO-BUD parts, a like-new PEAVEY Studio Pro 112 w/cover and footswitch, bars, picks, etc.

See you there..........Joel

Ol Kilted One...there is no fee to display your "stuff" for sell. We are a club and family...however maybe sometime in the future if we "sponsor" a big event that would be a different situation Image And again, do have Jill show up and play, or just hang back and enjoy...y'alls call. I will be there Friday night probably around 7:00 or so to get things ready in case anybody wants to come and set up. SEE YOU ALL ON SATURDAY!!!

Man, this one falls on a bad day for me. But I'll still try to make it. Shall I bring my bass? Is that drummer coming again?

Gary, You're sure welcome, and can bring your bass if you like. I'll have my fender bass there for anyone to play. Bob will have a drumset there, too. You ARE bringing your steel, aren't you? Image

Since the meeting is tomorrow, I'd better start getting my "stuff" loaded today. I can lift and carry everything OK, but standing up after squatting to remove the pedal board is a major event!

....by the way Bob, you refer to J.R. as the "kilted" one. Does that mean that he is going to wear "kilts" to the meeting, and if so, will he play steel Guitar Rag on the bagpipes? Image

Seriously, several players that I have never had the privilege to meet, have been mentioned above that may attend. I hope all of you do make a special effort to come, so that we can get acquainted and support this new steel-guitar organization.

I brought my steel last time and never got to play. Too busy playing bass and drums. The drum thing was funny. I said I'd play a couple of songs so the drummer could get a drink. She never came back. I hadn't played drums in years and I wasn't that good at it to begin with. Much more comfortable on bass. So I guess if I can come, I'll just bring my bass. May not get to show up at all though.

Hey thats funny Gary, I brought my steel and set it up and never got to play either...too busy being a meeting coordinator! But bring your steel and set it up, heck, you might even get to play it! We'll have enough people to do the rythym thing. James is bringing his Bass and we'll manage to get the rythym section going! See you all tomorrow!...Bob

JAMES: Thanks for doing the seminar...and for letting me sit behind that gorgeous new fingertip.

BOB: Thanks for all the organisational work you do as club president...and for the best smoked hotlinks I've ever eaten, bar none.

Do we have to wait 'til December? Image

Hey Bob, as usual you did a great job. There's a lot of work that goes into setting these meetings up. Setting everything up and cleaning up afterwards. I'm sorry that I wasn't as available to help with some of this. Of all days, I had to work but was able to attend and listen to some outstanding playing. James, I heard some good comments on your seminar. I would have like to set in on it as a student. Can't wait til December meeting. I'm going to try to get the word out more locally to bring in more listeners and maybe future players for the next meeting. Jim, Gene, Byron and all the other players were laying down some awesome licks. A special thanks to the backup band. The more hot links Joel eat, the "hotter" that fiddle got! Image It was good to meet Bill Edwards from Arkansas. Come back anytime Bill but next time bring your stuff! Looking forward to the next meeting.

Gerald, Thanx for the kind worgs, my friend!

And we had a HARP on the bandstand!! What a cool dimension of TONE that added to the mix!! Thank you for contributing, Jill Justice!!

And Chris and family from Edmund, originally from Chicago, definatley enjoyed meeting you and your family! Please bring your steel next time!

And Joe Gilbert, it was a pleasure meeting you! You looked pretty good behind that vintage Shobud Fingertip!

Loren, I LOVE that Randall amp you have---Great tone! And you look quite comfy behind the EMCI. Cool guitar!

Joel, you will do just fine on your guitar, but you gotta start using fingerpicks instead of your fiddle bow!! Image

Everyone had a blast, and looking forward to "next time"!(December 16)
[This message was edited by James Morehead on 26 September 2006 at 06:10 AM.]

I showed up late but it was fun when I got there. Finally got a chance to play my "drumkit". I hope it sounded ok.

I left the banjo in the truck during the steel session but I want you to know that I got it out later at the bluegrass festival. Met a couple of pretty good pickers down there. Might even start up a bluegrass group now. Just need a couple more good players.

Anyway, thanks for having the steel show. I'll see you guys in December, I hope.

Well it sure was nice to finally get to meet the faces of the internet members. I found each one even more friendly in person. Bob outstanding job. I think I really found out the scoop on Jim's eye. It seems he was swatting a mesquito and forgot he had his picks on. Ouch!! Right in the right eye. He must have learned a lesson because he wasn't using a pick on his index finger. lol James thanks for the lesson, I will be in touch soon I hope. By the way the check is in the mail. The one from Ed McMan that is. Gene it sure was good to finally meet you. What a sweet sound you put out. Calvin, James, Loren, very good sounds. Makes me want to get on the ball. Just waiting for finances if you know what I mean. Jill and George thanks so much. That harp was something else and the fiddle work not to bad either. G. Harper those vocals were good also, whatever key it was. Gerald it sure was nice of you to keep an ambulance on standby for us. This the most I have typed since failing typing in High School, so would just like to thank all for a very good time. Can hardly wait until Dec.

My appreciation to the COPSGC officers; Bob, James and Gerald, for their dedication and efforts in getting this new club off the ground....and especially for being such exceptionally kind and considerate individuals. I missed seeing those who did not attend this meeting and sincerely hope to see you at the next meeting in December.

Appreciation also to Gary Shepherd for playing such nice bass and furnishing the "drums". Gary is a fine steeler but so far has subjucated his talent to support backup for the event. Gary, please bring your steel in December. And to Jim Harpers's brother who played guitar and did some vocals....I loved what you did and I thank you.

I wanted to personally tell the "harpist" how much I appreciated her talent, but she left before I could. When I first heard her play I thought we had acquired a keyboardist because everything she played was so appropriate. J.R., (fine fiddle player) I was told that you know that lady....and if you do, please encourage her to come back to the next meeting.

.....and most important to me, is that I thank COPSGC for the plaque that they presented to me. It is an honor that I will always appreciate. Thank you guys for giving me one of the few awards that I have received in my lifetime. It really is an honor that means so much to me.
