Questions about some old slides

Post by Ron Victoria »

I got a couple of slides with some guitars I just bought and want to get some info on them if possible. The first one is chocolate brown bakelite, 3/4 X 2 7/8. The second is marked Epi-Rocco. It's curved hardwood with a metal body. The last one is marked Roy Smeck, brass, 3/4 X 3. Any guesses as to the value of them? Thanks, Ron

I'd say it depends on WHO wants them and how much they're willing to pay, if ineed anything, to get them.

I don't know about the bar ... but an Epiphone Rocco steel guitar is a horeseshoe magnet pickup equipped "Monster".

As Ray says , depends on who "wants them" ...

Me ... I'm in a serious "Flattie" phase ...

I've been rounding off the ends so they won't get hung up in the strings ...

Bye, bye "Bullet" ... Image

My advice would be to watch the "steel guitar" and "Hawaiian steel guitar" categories on eBay. As I recall old steel bars go for about $10-40. The Epi bar sounds rare. Can you post a pic?

Just a guess: your Bakelite bar might bring $25-30 (the snazzier colors, like pink or green in mint condition bring more), the Smeck is on the lower end, say $15-20. Can't guess on the Epi, but it could be at the upper end of the range--or beyond.
[This message was edited by Bob Stone on 19 November 2004 at 05:28 AM.]
