Harry Manx in Denver

Post by Dwight Mark »

Well I just got back from the Harry Manx concert. I met another Denver forum player there as well.
He didn't have much of a crowd, but it made no difference to me - he was incredible. Such a soulful player and singer. He had a footboard to thump along with his bass notes and his instrument sounds were big and tight on every instrument.
Afterwards we talked and he asked me and my friend to hang back after he got done signing autographs so he could give us pointers on setting up and tuning my Mohan Veena.
Great guy and a night to remember.
If you're in the mountains - he's playing Aspen tomorrow night.

I wish I would have known about it. I would have been there. As you can see, I am a neighbor of yours. It would be great to meet you too. You have a few people on your web site who are also friends.

Hey there neighbor...
Actually, Dan Treanor, who is on the Northern Blues Label, the same as Harry's first few CDs, was there and is also located in Arvada.
I guess we'll have to have a little get together with our lap steel guitars...

Hi Dwight,
Another neighbor! - although a little north -in Ft. Collins. Image

I'll order your CD's sometime soon - I'd like to play them on the radio. I do a steel guitar show every Thurs. on KRFC fm in Ft. Collins (88.9). If you can't hear in Aurora, listen on the web www.krfcfm.org I try and play all kinds of steel music (pedal, acoustic, lap, reso)

Dan Treanor - he plays harmonica yes? I think he was on the most recent album I recorded for Hawkeye Herman. It just came out although we did this a while ago. I recorded his Blues Alive album as well. http://www.hawkeyeherman.com/index.htm

cheers, hope we get to meet sometime

Chris

Another neighbor here; I'm in the mountains west of Fort Collins and play dobro in the Dog Mountain Band (www.dogmountainband.com) -- we are working up an electric western swing alter-ego band. I've been drinking up all the lap and pedal steel playing I can hear live and local....thanks for another one to add to my list of "must hear".

Well for all of you northern coloradans, I'm going to go to Fort Collins tomorrow(friday) to see the 3 Twins play a benefit concert. It's John Magnie, Tim Cook and Steve Amedee from the Subdudes and some musician friends of theirs. There's details at www.subdudes.com. I know the 3 Twins used to play with a steel guitar player who had midi hooked up and would comp hammond organ chords on the steel.
