This morning on Weekend Edition on NPR they had musical guest Ray LaMontagne, live in the studio with his band. (I admit, I don't know the name). Before performing a couple of songs he introduced the band: drums, bass, and "on...banjo...Doug Pettibone." Doug was the answer to a question I posted a while ago, 'who is the steeler with Lucinda Williams'. A fine guitarist who I hadn't realized also played steel. Banjo.....that was news to me. Anyway the song started and it had atmospheric steel all over it.
I chuckled at the inside joke that the artist laid on Pettibone by introducing him 'on banjo'.
Banjo sounds just like Steel Guitar
