That's sort of what I had in mind with the "Steel on the Web" section, but it's not getting much use.
I don't think they should allow banjo and steel in the same song. It tears me apart.

b0b. Would you like the steel and banjo together if the steel was turned down so you could hear the banjo better?

Bruce Bouton.....The Man! And the banjo player, I can't recall his name, excellent picking!
I love listening to steel and banjo together. Steel guitar, and banjo, the two only two instruments that were created here in America so I'm told.

I thought the guitar player looked like Ray Flack, but not sure he sounded like him? Bruce sounds just right.

That is Ray Flack on his old Tele, and fiddler Bobby Hicks on banjo.

The difference between an onion and a banjo?.... no one cries when you cut a banjo in half

What's the difference between a cockroach and a banjo ? ...
You can't stomp a banjo with your bare feet.

I know it's probably off topic, but what do you guys have against banjos?
(Only asking because someone I know gave me this lovely 5-stringer in return for creating his website).
It's probably the same thing that makes different people consider steel "whiney".
There are ways to avoid the stereotypes.
I stay away from fingerpicks on the thing though. I can't be in the same room if I use them, which logistic'ly would make it quite hard to play

bOb How do you like your marimba? Seems to me the marimba , banjo, and steel would be the perfect way to start as real band Jack

Jack, that won't happen because the banjo player would want top billing...
That's definitely Ray Flack on guitar, and I almost didn't recognize Bobby Hicks - played fiddle for Judy Lynn for many moons.
[This message was edited by Barry Blackwood on 19 July 2006 at 10:20 AM.]

Why are a Banjo and a hand grenade alike?
Because by the time you hear either one, it's too late!

b0b, you might actually enjoy Gary Lee's banjo playing. He doesn't sound like what you'd expect to hear, his playing is........ well.......... it's a bit different, I guess is the best way to describe it. His musical mind works in ways that I just can't fathom.

I thought the whole band was great! Bruce and Ray were awesome.
How funny it was to see one of the best fiddlers to ever walk the face of the earth playing a b@njo! Bobby Hicks - what legend!
{all of the above is my humble opinion of course}
Respectfully,

What a great band! Thanks for the link.
That was Ray's favorite guitar, a 67 Tele, which was stolen a few years ago.

Klaus, they are just plain old jealous, just jealous I tell you. Butcha know what? I bet half of them are closet banjo pickers or at least wanna be closet BANJO pickers.
it's a bit different

My son-in-law is a closet b@%!0 player. A true gentleman, he is! He doesn't even take it out of the case in mixed company.

Note the container of talcom powder on top of Ray's amp.
His fretboard was always caked with that stuff.
