Yesterday and last night was Gene Watson day at the Llano Opry. We had 2 shows, one at 2:30PM and one at 7:30 PM. Gene and his Farwell Party band with Corky Owens and his new Rains steel was absolutley great. It just happens that Justin Trevino brought who else but Johnny Cox to the show. They had played a gig in Kerville Friday night. I invited Johnny to bring his steel up on the evening show and set in and he did and we did. Johnny sounded awsome on his MSA Legend D-10+12+9+9. Justin done some songs off his new gospel CD. There was folks in the fromt row wiping tears from their eyes when he sang "How Great Thou Are". Ron Knuth played great fiddle and Dixie Hankins on Drums. Me setting next to Johnny Cox on stage and him playing beautiful steel and not tring to smoke me is something I'll treasure forever. He is a super guy. He even let me steal his N-112 settings. That's about as good as it gets. Don.
