Just one question, when you come up
with intros like that, do you get it
the first time or do you keep tweeking

Rick-it was a tracking session(band was there)and I just got lucky I guess!I just tried to play something like the melody...seems like it didn't take too long...it has been quite a while ago.Thanks for the kind words!

I like the playing on it, but it got me in trouble today. The band wanted me to play it and my version was pretty pathetic. They said it was ok tho.

Steve, that is a fun song to play. I learned this song to play with a band from Tenn. this past weekend, we never rehearsed it together so it was kinda on the fly, the song is in F# and they learned it in B but still came out good, but the guys in that band are some good musicians which realy helped.

I just heard this record (I tuned to a country music station by mistake, but I'm glad I did!), and I thought how good it was to hear a great steel part that wasn't buried in the mix like they so often are nowadays.

Tony,I used an Emmons guitar and a Mesa/Boogie preamp with a Mosvalve power amp and a Marrs speaker cabinet with a JBL D-130 speaker in it...I have been using this setup for several years and I'm really happy with it...thanks for the kind words!

Roger,I haven't used the Sho-Bud in the studio much because it was noisy,but Jeff Surratt put a 710 in it last week for me-I'm anxious to try it now(it plays great).Thanks!

Guys, I'm sorry to say I had never heard of Steve Hinson until Billy Keeble recorded his latest C.D., "The Real Me" and Steve played on it. I was lucky enought to have written three of the songs on the project, so I got a "Rough Mix" right away. I was blown away with the steel in the whole thing, but especially the kick off to one of my tunes, "Neon Sun". I called Billy and asked him who the steel player was, and that was the first time (to my knowledge) that I ever heard his name. I'll never forget it now!

Funny thing, That was the way I found out about Brent Mason too...Years ago. A feller recorded an album, and used four songs of mine. He sent me a rough mix, and I was blown away with the guitar picking. I found out when the packaged cassette came out who the player was. I don't have to tell you what became of his carreer. I'm happy to report that Brent and I are good friends, and I'm looking forward to meeting Steve Hinson someday too. Steve, Keep up the great work.

Yeah, I found out she had been scrapped several years ago. Tell Harvey Howdy!

Although I have had a lot of songs recorded, here are some of the most recent. On Billy Keeble's Album, I wrote: "When She Does Me Right, (She Does You Wrong)" - "Neon Sun" - "Please Sing Silver Wings Again". (I know you have played some of the songs with me in years past) On Joe Paul Nichols New C.D. I wrote "Eleven Eighteen Nadine Lane". On Kristen Majors New C.D. I wrote "You Are My Rainbow, (Without You I'm Blue)" On Pat Meade's new C.D. I wrote, "We Were Cowboys", and "Tamale Ridge". On Jeff Griggs Cassette Tape, (1989) I wrote "You Ain't Here To Hear Me Say Goodbye", "Reason Enough", "Lonely Texas Highway", and "Please Sing Silver Wings Again".

Bob Curtis recorded, "Another Day In The Life Of A Fool" and "Gettin' Acquainted With The Blues".

Joe Paul Nichols has recorded nine songs of mine to date, and they were, "lonely Texas Highway" - "Gonna Go Dancin' Tonight" - "Swing Me A Song" - "Baby Buggy Boogie" - "Houston's Just Another Name For Blue" - "Let Me Off In Texas" - "Tamale Ridge" - and "San Antonio Waltz" and of course the one I mentioned above, "Eleven Eighteen Nadine Lane". I've got some other things in the works, but I'll wait till they happen before I sy anything about it. The Texas Trail Hands recorded, and titled their new album "San Antonio Waltz".

Many People have recorded "When She Does Me Right, including, Jason Robberts, Leon Payne, Dave Owens, Red Kilby, Billy Martin, Billy Keeble, and myself (Three times!)

I'm just waiting for Real Country Music to happen again, cuz, "I Got A Million Of 'Em!"
