John Macy,

You are absolutely correct about bucks playing, he has mastered the instrument.

I just E'd him for a copy and am really anxious to hear it!

Back when Buck and I hung at SGN together I used to listen to him try out different guitars in the store. A couple times when no one else was around I got to hear him push an axe right to its limits and I know what the dude is capable of.

You said it, great player, and a great guy!

Lots of wonderful players these days, but IMO it just doesn't get any better than this.

I've only had time to listen to it once, but I'll chime in that everything people are saying is true. Great album, Buck! Thanks!

I think that it is just great, but then I knew it would be. Lord knows I had bugged Buck long enough; Buck I hope that you come out with another. Seems to me that the more quality recordings we have then it's all the better for everyone.

I've heard Buck and he's fantastic.

Is there a place to see the track/songlist? Country, jazz, pop, swing, blues, etc.? E9th, C6th?

Is it mostly steel? Backup band?

Thanks in advance for any info.

The Waiting Room
Kelsey's Song
Alabama Jubilee
Cry
Donna Lee
Eastern Swing
In The Graden
Scrapple From The Apple
Sweet Memories
Sour Dough

A great mixture - swing, jazz, lots of great E9 and C6. I believe that #s 1,2,6 and 10 are Buck's own compositions, and the others are great versions of some more familiar material. It's all steel, although there's some soloing by the fine accompanyists. I particularly enjoy Mike Rojas who I remember seeing in Ricky Skagg's band some years ago.

I know it's a cliche on the Forum, but I, too, am wearing my copy out! I KNEW he was a terrific player, but this CD still confounds me every time I listen. Glowing reviews of new CDs are hardly uncommon here, and a certain amount of back-scratching does go on, but let me assure you that this work is truly exceptional.

To think I was once dumb enough to sit and play my steel in Buck's house with him in the same room..... Image

I've listened to this CD many times the past few weeks and like Russ said, this is as good as it gets. Great tone, taste, and technique. Very original ideas that are refreshing. Buck's technique is different in that he really digs in and picks strings hard when he wants. This lets him play with more dynamics. I love it! I've even loaded it into my IPod.
