who was the steeler on Wilburn Brothers

Post by Terry Sneed »

I watched the Wilburn brothers last night on RFD and the steel player was playin an MSA, and if I'm not mistaken his E9th and C6th necks were reversed. Was it Curly Chalker? anybody?

Terry, It was the great Curly Chalker and his necks were reversed. The story I heard was someone told him to play on the front neck so he had a guitar built with the C6th on the front neck. I probably do not have to tell you how great a player he was. His death left a huge void in the steel guitar community.
