Terry Downs--Texas' Secret Weapon

Post by Fred Shannon »

You don't hear too much about this guy unless you're talking about one of the best there is in playing a combination of Telecaster and Universal Steel guitar. But if you want to get your hat blown in the creek, catch him the next chance you have. In the vernacular of Larry the Cable Guy, "He can git 'er done".

Terry is an excellent musician in the fact he really knows music and probably spends a lot of his tme studying the stuff. Proof is in the puddin', go to this website:
http://terrydownsmusic.com/

and enjoy some of what a lot of us should probably be taking into account daily. For the new Forum members, notice I didn't say new steel players, you'll learn a lot from Terry Downs' efforts. This is a super learning site and includes some of the best tips and tricks of the trade available.

Thanks for the trip Terry.

Hi Fred,
Terry is one of my favorite players/people, and what a player. I don't get to hear his steel playing much, as he is on guitar when we work together, but he is a monster guitar player, and a joy to work with. There is not another that compares to him on the Hag (Roy Nichols stuff).
I am proud to be his friend..cya...Ronnie

Fred,
You are too kind. Thanks for the post. I'm just an old hack, but I love playing with good people. I'm glad you got something out of my web site. Thanks for visiting.

Speaking of good people, ladies and gentlemen, Charley Pride's steeler, Ronnie Miller. I'm proud that I have shared the stage with you. We need to figure out a way to get you back on stage at he Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree as well as others!!!

Dirt,
You are always too kind. You are the greatest. Let's thank him for his efforts on the great Buddy Emmons web site and more.

Ronald,
Thanks for the kind remarks.

Crowbear,
Thanks very much, but you sure don't type like someone from Ariege. Another post said you eat possum? Is that true? Image
[This message was edited by Terry Downs on 13 April 2005 at 06:33 AM.]
