How to put a Video on the Internet/Forum

Post by Egil Skjelnes »

Hello
Some years ago me and Dag Wolf made a steel guitar video with a tune from our LP,a very good and professionally made video, probably the first music video of a steel guitar tune to be made.It is quite funny, and good too,and now we will like to put it up for view on the forum for all to see.
But have anyone of you experience with "Live" picture/movie on the net,and can give some advise how and where to do it,some kind of step by step guide?
We have at the moment a VHS video, but the TV company said they should make us a DVD copy as well.
Any advise how to do it is fine.
Best from Egil.

The first thing that you need to do is to digitize your movie, by a video capture card on your computer, next would be to compress it into mpg, mov ( Quicktime )or wmv (Windows Media ) format for easy downloading. You will need to upload this file to a website or FTP site. Post a html link here, then prepare to be famous.

I think it is also going to depend if you just want to make the file available for downloading and playing back locally on someones comupter or if you want to stream it over the web. Downloading is straight forward FTP but streaming, I'm pretty sure, is a whole other can of worms...
