Fiddler, Howard Kalish is a FORUM member and has played in some of the same bands with Scott. Perhaps he will see this topic, about Scott.

I had the pleasure of hearing SCott with Don Walser's "Pure Texas Band" at the Broken Spoke in Austin a few years ago. A very fine player - played an LDG through two SEssion 400's.
[This message was edited by Bob Blair on 21 August 2004 at 06:48 PM.]

I've also enjoyed Scott's playing on various Derailers and Dale Watson cuts.

I'm listening to the Derailer's "Reverb Deluxe" right now and ejoying his tasteful playing.

Very nice tone of that LDG thru Session 400s.

I know Scotts Dad, Hal Walls. Hal is a monster player and could play everything Curly played. We used to jam together back in Buffalo NY in the 60's. He could play Jazz with the best. He also worked in Wheeling WV with Buddy Spicher (fiddle). I get to see Hal now and then in Pittsburgh PA where my wifes family lives. Hal told me how good Scott played on a single Sho Bud and he played a tape he had of Scott. Hal was correct. Scott is a excellent player.

I just saw him play last night with the Cornell Hurd Band. Every Thursday night at Jovita's...always a treat! He's extremely tasteful and smooth. Used to see him a lot with Don Walser too. Too bad Don's not performing these days. I really miss him.

It’s great to see my pal Scott getting some well-deserved accolades. He’s a terrific and soulful player who constantly surprises me. As noted in this thread, it runs in the family. Scott and I played together for many years with Don Walser and we now play with the Cornell Hurd Band and I never get tired of hearing him play. He and I are simpatico and play off each other without thinking. He’s also a real hoot and a great guy to hang with. We’re at the Broken Spoke in Austin tomorrow nite. And check out Scott’s great playing on the latest Cornell Hurd CD Cen-Tex Serenade available at www.cornellhurdband.com. Scott also tore it up on my CD What the Hey.
