Tommy played a Carson Wells guitar. He had two or three. The axes were built by Carson in Sabinal, Texas right outside of Uvalde. Carson, in addition to being an excellent guitar maker, player, but he also worked for the county attorney of that county as an investigator. He assisted Tommy in writing and producing the videos that were sold when Tommy was alive. Hope this helps. Carson BTW now lives in the Kerrville, Texas area and still makes a couple of guitars a year. Point of interest; the non pedal horn played by Tommy Morrell was also made by Carson.

Probably a C&W, which he was selling. Maybe fellow forumite Gary Carriger would know for sure.

Fred - I usually tell folks that Sabinal is just south of the great metropolis of Utopia!

Thats interesing. Ive heard mention of CW guitars in the past. Tommy's sound is kinda fat and juicey to my ears but hard to pin down. Great player.

Yep, I saw Tommy here in San Antonio and he was playing a D10 CW with E66's and using an NV400. Believe it was 8&7. I have had a C&W for about 4 years and will say it is a good sounding, easy action instrument.
