Bobby Terry??

Post by John Macy »

Anyone familiar with this player? I just got into the Anthony Smith CD on Mercury, and Bobby not only produced it, but played everything on the CD (acoustic guitar, electrics, keys, bass and steel) except the drums, sang most of the background vocals and still sounds like a band playing together. He's a killer.

Anyway, I spoke with Brian Tankersley who mixed the record, and he said Bobby was a steel player first, but I am unaware of him.

Anyway, way to go, Bobby...

By the way, this record is killer. Great writing (Anthony wrote "That's What Brothers Do", "I'm Trying" and some others) and killer playing and sonics.

PS--This was in an email from Brian...

"Bobby Terry is a raging musical savant. Great guy (another Texas boy)
and more talent than should be legal. He plays acoustic guitar, electric
guitar, steel (his original axe), bass and keys all at no-lie, double
scale, "A" call level. I've never met anyone else that accomplished on
that many different instruments. His acoustic chops in particular
literally freak other great players out."

John,
I have known Bobby for years as my Son Steve played drums in a band that Bobby was in in the Spring Tx.( North of Houston ) area for quite some time . My understanding now is that Bobby has a recording studio in Nashville and is doing quite well . He is a fine steel player as well as other instruments but steel is his first love as I recall .

I plan on forwarding this on to Steve as he will be interested in what Bobby is doing .

I have been in contact with Bobby from time to time and always found him to be a fine young fellow . I hope he will go far and I'm sure he will with the many musical talents he has .

Thanks for posting your thoughts regarding Bobby .

John

Thanks for the info. I get more impressed with him each time I listen to the CD. Maybe he'll show up around here someday...
