I don't know what's wrong with the mail system this year -- unless it's 9/11 precautions.
I manage political campaigns and send millions of mail pieces. We have had far more misdirected mail this year than ever -- and in the final 40 days before an election our mail takes priority over First Class.
Last week I had a properly addressed and posted package I mailed to an out-of-state friend in July returned to me -- it never even left the Los Angeles area!

I recently sent a piece of mail to my CPA fifty miles away in Knoxville, TN. It took them two weeks to get it and it was postmarked Oklahoma City.
