Buddie Emmons Album Cover

George McLellan sent me this Album Art and asked about the guitar.

Obviously a Multi-Chord of some type.
I suspect "Buddie" did not use it.

Can someone provide more info about it?

Thanks.

I had a Multi-Kord at one time. It worked pretty good when it wasn't hanging up on the return. I went to a bar in Lima, Ohio one night and the guy had his pedals split on his Muti-Kord. He sounded good! I doubt if Buddy ever played one.

Joey,

HERE is an excellent discussion of that record cover. Buddy Emmons adds some interesting info to the post.

I heard that the album was finished and for some reason to get it out they wanted a Steel Guitar photo and that was all they could come up with.I am sure there is more to the story. Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works

Ed, that was it. They needed a picture of a steel guitar. What a joke to put that on the cover. It sure was a GREAT album though in 1963. It opened my eyes.

About Multi-kord, I made a steel using a Mult-Kord changer, with solid rods on a solid body, 14 strings.

It worked for me for 10 years.I can email a picture if anyone is interested...al Image

Back then, Buddy spelled his name Buddie. I believe the story was that he wanted six letters in his first and last name. I think his old Sho-Bud has his name inlaid on the front with that spelling too. Maybe he should change it to Buddha instead! Image

He is right!

BE used to use the "Buddie" spelling to have his first and last name appear on the front of his steel symmetrically (sp)?

...the same amt of letters for each name anyway.....
