I met Pete Burak last night

Post by Mike Perlowin RIP »

Last night I had the pleasure of meeting and jamming with our fellow forumite Pete Burak. Pete's band was playing not too far from me so I went to see them, and sat in on mandolin for a set.

It's a pretty good band, and Pete played some really tasty things. Like so many others, he's a really good player who deserves more recognition than he has received. He also seems like a hell of a nice guy.

Unfortunately for me, he tunes his guitar so completely different from the way I tune mine that I couldn't play it. Oh well......

Pete, if you ever pass this way sagain, and I hope you do, please let me know so I can come see you again.

Pete's a great guy and a stellar player-I always look forward to hearing from him-as we share a love for Garcia and Buddy cage!

Yep, sitting down at Pete's guitar is a pretty good way to make yourself look silly. He and his Dad, Jerry are two guys who I always look forward to seeing in Dallas and St. Louis.

At the 2001 show they lent me batteries for my camera and 2002 we were coming from our rooms at the same time and had breakfest.
He's also a Derailers fan

Hey Folks!
Made it back from Cali late last night.

Mike, Good to see you and I'm glad you had a chance to sit in. I thought the mando sounded great, especially on the the ballads.

Thanks for the kind words from my convention buddies!

It was good to meet Brandon as well, (although I was making a run for the airport at the moment), and it turned out he was able to sit in with the group for the rest of the gig (I had to leave early).
I'm sure it went well!

Gerry Walker (of Walker Stereo Steel) came out on thursday night in SanDiego, so I got to meet with fellow Forumites each night of this mini-tour (4 nights around San Diego and L.A.).

Sounds like I'll be doing another one of these in mid November in the San Francisco area. I hope to cross tracks with some other local pickers.

Fun Stuff!
Pete B.

Getting to know Pete........is like acquiring another son. He's such a truly nice boy...one you can trust with your guitar, your dog and/or your wife/daughter.
A rare young man indeed. Might fine picker as well!
