Recording an audio cassette to a CD

Post by Bill Myrick »

This is very elemental but to be sure--- could I simply hook the audio out from a cassette player into the back of my computer at the mic input and record the cassette to a CD with my burner ? If so, how do I direct the burner to the mic input source to record. ? or-- is there a better way without installing additional soft ware etc ? thanks Bill Myrick

you can use the hard interface on the back of your computer but your going to need some kind of recording software..because your cassette is analog and your computer is digital...there is a starter one out and it's not expencive ...it's called emagic micro magic av...go to www.emagic.de and check it out...also if your on ebay they sell these for around $30.00 used and they don't need any special dongle or key...and on top of that they work on mac and pc...please email me if you wish more info

I have posted this before, but Music Match Jukebox is the handiest thing there is. At about $30 you can store your songs on your computer and find them in any order you like, (by name), (by artist),(by genre)or by (album name) and play them or record them back to CD with ease. I have about 2500 songs on my computer at this time. Any time I go on a long trip I just burn me two or three CDs, about 20 songs on each and I don't have to listen to the radio. You just select the recording function on the drop down for (line in) which is from your phono or tape to the computer, or your (CD)O drive if you are copying CDs. When you want to burn your CD just select the songs you want, in the order you want, and select record and that's it.

You can also download from Microsoft "free" a little dude called Microsoft Windows Media Encoder, which turns your files from your tape into mp3's on your computer. Also like Fred Murphy said, Music Match Jukebox is a fantastic little piece of equip, and if you purchase it, it has an equalizer and a few other little goodies you can really use too.
