Viewing Pictures

Post by Richard Bass »

Recently whenever I try to view certain web cams(Earth Cams, etc)all I get is a small box in the upper left hand corner with 3 colored dots in it. This is also showing up when I try to play the games on the "Excite" page. I have not had this trouble before. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Richard

Richard-- Sounds like your browser is not set to display graphics. Do you see the ones on the Forum, like our host's handsome face??

You didn't say what browser you're using.

With IE 5.5, open TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS and click the ADVANCED tab. In the window that opens, scroll down to the MultiMedia section and make sure the appropriate selections are checked(enabled).

Hope it helps. --Everett

Thanks Everett for the reply. I tried that but it didn't help.I do use IE6. I get all pictures except the ones on "earth cam", "elbo room", and the images on "excite" to play their games. In the box where the image should appear there is in the upper left hand corner a small box with three very small colored marks, thats all, no picture. Anyone have any ideas whats wrong?
[This message was edited by Richard Bass on 15 February 2002 at 11:22 AM.]

Is it "all" the various earthcam pictures or just certain ones. I've found some of them have the camera down and I'll get the "red x".

Also go back to the I.E. Internet Options/Advanced panel and click on the "restore defaults" and see if that helps.

Richard-- If you mean the "elbo room" in San Francisco, I visited that web site and see they are using "Macroromedia Flash" content on thier page. That means you should have (or need) the proper "add in" for your browser. It's free and small.

Look in your Windows\System folder and see if you have a subfolder for "Macromed". If not, you can download the player from http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/ . If you've already got it, they have help at http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/playerfaq.htm . --Everett
