Outlook Express 5 help needed!

Post by Herb Steiner »

In the process of getting broadband service and gradually weaning myself from AOL, I just started using OE5 with Windows ME.

The problem is that: twice in 2 days, legitimate email messages arrive, I read them, close OE5 for whatever reason, and when I return, the messages and their attachments have disappeared.

(BTW, Bill Naumann and Rick GM, this happened to your last posts to me)

Has anyone had this happen and if so, is there a fix. So far, I have: scanned for viruses with a completely current Norton AV and there's no viruses; rebuilt my inbox.dbx file, with no incoming messages yet to report.

Forum assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Herb.....there is an OE 6 now, I was prompted to upgrade to it a couple of weeks ago, which I did, and it is working great....you might try that and see if it helps.

Herb---try this

Top of OE5--click VIEW>>CURRENT VIEW and select SHOW ALL MESSAGES.
Obviously I don't know how yours is configured but the wrong selection here would result in disappearing or hidden emails.

Please report results.

Yes by all means go up to microsoft.com and download Internet Explorer 6.0 which brings Outlook Express 6.0 with it. All these little problems with 5.0 will go away.
