Win95 to Win98 upgrade?

Surprising to think about it :^) but I've never upgraded an operating system on a PC.
(Used DOS then bought a couple of new PCs...)
My 5 year old computer seems to be fine, except that I need to upgrade to Win98 in order to use a new disc burning program.
Is the upgrade fairly straightforward?
Of course I'll have to reinstall software but would zipped uninstalled program files be affected? I'd do a back-up first, but need to be up and running quickly. --

It's pretty straightforward, just insert your 98 CD and follow the prompts. Be sure you have your system backed up, but there will be no need to reinstall your software. 98 will pick it up as it installs and your software will remain installed.
