Memory Upgrade
My home machine is an old P166 with 16mb of memory. I'd like to add another 32MB and have access to some used EDO boards. How do I check for compatibilty with existing memory.
Should I care?
Thanks in advance.

Go to http://www.crucial.com and select your motherboard from their list. They can tell you exactly what type of memory you need, and they also have about the lowest price of anyone else I've found, should what you have not work.

If you have 72pin EDO SIMMS, they will work. The issues come up when you have to have some of the older stuff (parity/non-parity) that is virtually unavailable any more.
If you can find them, look for a pair of 32Meg SIMMS to get you up to 64Meg. It isn't a bunch any more but will significantly boost your performance.
