The sound card driver is missing on my computer. It was operating but now it's gone. The software I have for my computer does not have a separate disk for the drivers and I can't access only the drivers on the recovery disk. I have the windows 98 upgrade and I can install it but there is a conflict with the 98 upgrade and my scanner.
Any suggestions?
Len, I would suggest contacting the company that makes the soundcard, if you know who they are. They should have up-to-date drivers. Secondly, I would avoid the 98 upgrade if you can, unless it's SE. I had it on my computer and it's very unstable.
If you "remove" the soundcard (in software) and then restart Windows, it should find "new hardware" and install the drivers for it, if Windows has the drivers built in for that particular card. If not, you haven't lost anything as you would still need to get the drivers from the sound card vendor.
Thank you one and all for the advise. The windows 98 update seems to cause a cinflict so I will pickup the windows SE.
Thanks again,
