Never thought you'd find me singing the praises of AOL for anything, but this is definitely one neat system! I signed up today for my free month of email-by-phone with AOL and just tried it out. You just call in to an 800# from anyphone in the USA (I think they might even have ex-US numbers) and punch in your password and acc't number. Then you speak your commands into the phone, like "Email". It has a synthesized voice (not too bad, either) that actually reads your email to you over the phone, starting with the most recent one. You can then tell it to "Save", "Re-Read", "Skip", "Delete", etc. It's pretty remarkable, I gotta say. In a few years all the companies will be doing this, but AOL's ahead of the curve this time. After the first free month, it costs $4.95 a month. This will save me from having to drag a laptop along on certain trips just to find out if a certain email has arrived yet. Now I can find out from my cellphone in my car! Neato!

I think this would only make sence if you had a limit on email.
If you subscibe to a yahoo or other mailing list and you use the email or digest option you could spend a lot of hours on the phone.
