Joe -- 'JAVA' is a kind of programming language that allows a web site an interactive connection to your PC. Many sites use it to deliver 'enhanced' pages.
You didn't say what browser/version you're using, but there should be a way for you to 'turn on/off' Java compilation/running. If you are using IE, check in the 'advanced' section under 'internet options'. -- Everett
