Got my two 112's today

Post by Rick Nicklas »

I got my two Nashville 112's today and starting experimenting. Got a buzzing sound with lexicon patched thru the Pre EQ patch but then I sent it thru the Post EQ patch and buzz is gone. So far I am just wishing it had the punch in the low end like my Session 500 but it doesn't quite cut it. Somebody was referring to a speaker break-in time on another thread. Will this happen to mine and the speaker tone loosen up to that Emmonsy sound?

85 watts vs 250 watts

tons of headroom vs limited headroom

112's are real nice amps, but we should not be thinking they will replace the big brothers.

The 500 is probably the cream of the crop for bottom end punch....great amp..

great BIG amp..

good luck with the 112's..

Thanks for your support of the Peavey Nashville 112 amplifiers.

I thought that "Emmonsy" sound came from the guitar not the amp. I get the best sound from my 112 using a DD5 between the guitar and amp with just a slight delay, and using the reverb on the amp. Effects units can greatly change the amp sound. I also have a Session 500, but I like the 112 sound better.

Well Darvin, the magic just popped in. I tried for a couple of hours yesterday to zero in on a solid full clear sound but was not getting what I wanted. I got up this morning and did my chores and came back hoping for a fresh start. I read several posts and got my best info from Randy Beavers and Johnny Cox's setup and connection of the two amplifiers. The magic happened when I turned back the bass and mid range a small amount. I almost started crying when I heard the familiar 500 punch but without the thin highs. It actually sounded much better than my 500 in clarity and good full highs. I hope this will carry over on the two dance halls this weekend. I can only hope that Peavy takes this amps potential to the next level and beefs it up to the 15" cabinet with the power to push it without loosing this fantastic sound. I will save my playing money just in case this happens.

Thats great Rick, I was hoping you wouldn't give up too soon. These are amazing amps. I am a Jazz guitar wannabee and I love the sound of my 112 with a hollow body electric.
