With my Mullen, I always set the shift at around 800. After I installed the LeMay kit, it seemed like 500 or 600 was a better shift point for that guitar.

Amp: Stock.
Bright Switch: On.
Pre Gain and Post Gain: Equal.
Bass: Wide open.
Mid: Off to just barely on, depending on room.
Shift: 3:00.
Treble: 10:00 -- 11:00, depending on room.
Presence: Wide open.
When I record at home I use slightly less treble since the mic I like tends to be fairly bright.
I use a BMI S-12 through mine with the following settings:
Pre gain.....4-5
Post Gain....6-7
Low..........10
Mid..........completely off!
high.........8
presence.....8
reverb.......0
I have the LeMay mod and in place of the reverb I use an old Ibanez 2 space analog delay unit coupled with a BBE Sonic Maximizer. Both effects patch through the back of the amp......JH in Va.

Roger, Always!
I use an old ShoBud pedal with a pot and you get very little tone loss through the full length of the pedal. Directly into the amp, the tone loss is major at lower levels of the pedal.
I used to use the pre-eq patch for my Goodrich volume pedal all the time but when I got my Hilton they recommend that you don't do it with theirs....JH
