Price for Dual-8 Pro?

Post by Cliff Scholle »

I'm thinking of selling my Dual-8 Pro. Although I love the tone of the trapezoidal pickups, it seems that I'm playing my Dual-6 most of the time. What is an old Dual-8 going for these days? Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Cliff:
I paid in excess of $800. two years ago for a cosmetically beat Dual Pro in a blown out case. OUCH. I got boned, truly I did. A less than scrupulous dealer took advantage of my ignorance and enthusiasm and sold me a guitar at almost twice what it was worth. (The same thing happened to me many years ago when I got my first Strat!) Now, a couple of years later, and having watched many of these guitars come and go on the market I can say this: they don't fetch what a Stringmaster would - and Stringmasters (in good condition) are going for upwards of $1200. If your guitar is in exceptional condition you could probably get up to $1000. for it, but if it's just average then maybe $600.-800.. It just depends on so many things - like how fast do you want to sell, whom are you selling to, and where are you planning on listing . . . poke around on the internet sites and you'll find Dual Pros - try e bay. Then you'll get a better idea.
