Fender on ebay, am I crazy?

Post by Chris DeBarge »

Anyone else see this?

Currently it's over a grand, for a single neck Fender (Deluxe I believe). It's mint, but it still seems like twice what it's worth. Am I missing something?

Easily twice - maybe thrice what it's worth. How 'bout that eye bolt on the headstock? I'm gonna have to put one of those on mine so when I'm done playin,I can take the legs off and hang it on a nail.

Now, I personally LOVE those guitars...Ideal for gigs...great sound, easy to move...BUT...the BIDDERS ARE CRAZY!!!!!
(Hey, maybe I should sell mine, it's in better shape, and then I could get a D-8!!!)

You guys are right, now that I look closer, I see that it's not even mint. Can I get a "shill"? Amen.

Could this be a scheme, people working together to run the price up? Some people seeing a high price on an old item will bite, because of the high price.

That last bid by "stratodano" put it over the top. Since that person has no feedback, I'm suspicious. I suspect either a fake bid or someone's kid bid on it.

That is, as Michael Johnstone said, far too much for a Fender lap steel in that condition.

Brings to mind a song.

You Gotta Have Heart,,,,,Miles and Miles and
Miles of Heart.

As Tug McGraw former pitcher for the New York
Mets once said.

Ended at $1000, I guarentee you that it will be back on ebay post haste. They'll probably blame it on a non-paying bidder, but I'd prefer to think it was shill-bidding gone bad.

I paid Ray Hennig $50 for the identical guitar in mint condition in the late 70's. That's why I find it hard to consider buying a non-pedal these days.
