preamp

Post by Kevin Ruddell »

I own a power amp and speaker , but not a combo amp. Can anyone suggest a preamp in stomp box form that would work well with steel. As a bass player I use the finest bass amp available, an Ampeg SVT with an all tube preamp , but for some reason it sounds not so great for my steel guitars. At the moment I'm using a Tech 21 Sansamp Bass Driver for a preamp. Are there any recommendations someone can make?
thanks !

Alembic F-2B Pre-Amp...while not a "stompbox"...it is IMHO the finest preamp you can buy...also, stock it is designed for Bass guitar, when ordering let them know what the application will be and they will mod the tone caps...it's basically the preamp from a fender dual showman

Another, not cheap and it's a single rack space, possibility is the Demeter Tube Bass preamp. I'm using that in my main rack.
