tube amps/solid state/speakers
Dear forum,
I've been recording a CD project using a Nashville 400, and it sounds a little thin on playback. I like the amp for gigs, but maybe I should get an old Twin or something for the recording. I don't want a dirty sound, just more warmth and mids.
What amps did Fender make that had a 15" speaker?
Would the speaker have to replaced with an EV or JBL?
thank you,
Drew Howard

I've done some session work with my Nashville 400, running from the preamp to a D.I. box to the board. It wasn't bad but I did one session where I used the Nashville on 6 songs and the other 6 I used my Peavey Transtube Fex recording output (XLR) to the board and it was much better. It was so much better than any sessions I do now I only use the Transtube Fex.

I've recorded tons of different ways with tons of different amps. Here is what I've been doing recently and is BY FAR then best sound I have ever>I'm mean EVER had in the studio.
My Steel; into my volume pedal; my volume pedal into my Fender Twin with two 12" speakers in it.
I have the engineer mic both speakers and use two channels; and mix one channel at 10 o'clock and the other channel at 2 o'clock.
I love this more than anything and is a large sound and board EQ is usually flat.
My setting on my twin really depend on what volume pedal and what pickups/guitar you have; but my settings are>volume 5; bright switch up; treble 4; mid 2; Bass 6; Reverb 3.
Well there ya go>all my secrets unvailed

Ricky and gang,
Thanks for the input. There is a Vibrasonic with a 15" speaker on Ebay, at $400 and several days left on the bidding.
Anyone got a spare Twin?
