Omar: I have been searching for midi pickups as well. To my knowledge there are none available for the psg. For the six string the only ones available are for Roland and Yamaha and maybe one other. With these you have to buy the sound module they supply as their pin jacks do not connect to standard 5 pin midi.

A ray of light is brianmooreguitars.com. They have a couple six stringers that have a direct to midi 5 pin output built in to the guitar. This can be connected to a keyboard or computer for direct midi so they say. Don't yet know pricing etc.

They don't have anything for the psg but you might put a bug in their ear.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Ken Lang on 01 February 2001 at 07:24 PM.]</p></FONT>

About once or twice a year you'll see a used IVL "Steelrider" rig for sale.A few years back, these were available w/either a 10 or 12 string pickup and a rackmount "brain" with 12 channels(one per string)which then drove the synth module of your choice.Expensive and complex no matter how you look at it.I've heard that only about a hundred were ever made due to lack of interest.IVL has been bought out by Digitech by the way.And except for a few custom made rigs built from 6 string guitar synth parts etc,no one else has stepped up to the plate and developed a similar unit expressly for steel. And even if every steel player in the world bought one, that's not enough for a company like Roland or Yamaha to market such a device.I've got a 12 string IVL unit on my Sierra universal and it works pretty good - and it sounds good if played through a good sounding synthisizer. If you see one, grab it cause they're getting as rare as Bigsbys. -MJ-

Omar I bought a MiDi set up from Al Petty
back in 1988. The Midi converters are were
built by a Co. in Ok City, OK. they are
called Photon. I think the were org. for
Gibson Guitar's but did'nt go over to big.
You might contact Phi Tech Co in OK City
an see if they stil have any Photon Converters left. Good luck.
