Sho-Bud amps

Hi,

someone over here is selling a 100 watts Sho-Bud amp made by Gretsch. Couldn't talk to him yet for further infos but he's asking only (app.) 180 USD. Is there any source for information about these amps? I think they made a lot of different models, so is there a model one should avoid?

I don't know which Sho~Bud amp had 100Watts output. But anyway, check out what speaker it's got in it. If it's a JBL D-130 and it works.. I would definitely BUY that amp for $180.oo, as the speaker alone is worth that money (in good shape). A D-130 would also indicate that it's not a 100W amp... could blow the JBL. Anyway, if it works... for $180.oo... I'd buy a dozan.

Never heard of 100Watt Sho-Bud amps as well but who knows

Most of the ShoBud amps I know about were around 100 watts. That's what the 'christmas tree' and single channel amps were. Not sure about the tube amps. Paul Franklin used to get the most increadible tone out of a single channel shobud amp. I'd buy it, even if it were broken....

Martin are you talking about the model that had the slide pots and V.U. meter?I never cared for those, but you might love it.If its nice, like JD said, it's worth the money.

The Sho-Bud was sold yesterday. I guess this was a once-in-a-lifetime offer, especially in Germany.

I'm confused about which amp being asked about too. I still have a "Gretch Nashville Pro" with a GMS (Altec) 15" speaker, that I bought in a promotional package in 1982 with a Sho~Bud Super Pro, but it didn't carry the Sho~Bud name. It's a great sounding amp, but I've never used it except when "mic'd" because of low power. The amp is still "like new" and I'm told the speaker alone is worth $200. As I said somewhere in another post, Carter Steel Guitars have the only other one I know about, and they carry it around to the steel shows for their demo's.

I was told by an Organ & Amp repair man, that at least some of the Sho-Bud Amps were made by an Organ Co.. If I remember correctly he said they were made by Hammond.
