String master pick up

Post by rhcarden »

I am trying to put my old triple neck Fender String Master back together and need some help!

1st. How do you tell which pick up wire is the lead? (both wires are the same color)

2nd. Does any one make replacement pick ups?

3rd. Where can I find replacement keys?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I believe Seymor Duncan makes some very nice replacements.

You might also check Jason Lollar's site at http://lollar.hypermart.net/index.html, he makes Stringmaster pickups as well as others...
Hope this helps!

Bill Lawrence. Check with Ted Smith at Melobar, he might have some of Bill's pickups in stock.

This might help you re-wire it http://www.seymourduncan.com/string.html its a schematic and pictorial drawing.
As a plug for my own pickups these are handwound and are every bit as good as the old Fenders if not a bit better.

I'll have to agree with Jason Lollar about his Stringmaster style pick-ups. Nobody even comes close to the real sound the Stringmaster pick-up with blend control does, than Jason Lollar. Jason made me two single coil 10-string Stringmaster style pick-ups, for my new "SS HAWAIIAN"; and they are even better than the original Stringmaster pickups. Jason is a genious desinger in all his expertise; and if anyone was wanting to replace there stringmaster pickups or have some made for a steel guitar; your dreams will come true with Jason Lollar; like mine did>Thanks Jason and almost ready to put the pictures and sound clips up on my new "SS HAWAIIAN" to prove it.

Thanks everyone for your help! I have enough parts to get one neck going. The guitar really is a basket case. I had a hand changer on the 3rd neck that gave me three tunings and home made pedals on the other two necks. I can repair the wood and most of the metal parts. The pickups were my problem. Thanks again!
