Peavey CS 800

Post by Rick Tyson »

A friend of mine is selling some PA equipment & asked if I needed any. I dont but he gave me a quote of $200 for a Peavey CS 800 power amp!! I hate to pass that up Image Have any of you used a CS 800 for your steel??
I love my Randal Amp but I can always use a back-up amp in my rack.

Rick,
Well that is about what they're going for these days. Only thing is those amps weigh
a TON!!!! About 50+ lbs.
The last one on ebay went for $250.

Jay, your right H E A V Y. But they are workhorse amps. The last band I worked in, in Kansas City, used a CS800 for the mains and a CS400 for the monitors. Helluva PA system! Everything was miked and it sounded good. However, I don't know how it would do as an instrument only power amp. Some do well, others leave a lot to be desired. I'd try it out before I bought it.

If I understand correctly (from the past) the CS800 is not designed for instrument amplification. I don't think the dampening factor is correct.
You really should ask Mike Brown from Peavey.

I have used a CS800 on ocasions,drivin' by a ProfexII. Speakers were Peavey SP2's.

This was a sound that nothing else could touch.

Too bad I canot carry all this stuff all the time.
