Light Amp
Well David, Polytone makes an amp "Mini Brute 4" that will carry the sound for fairly large venues. It is a small 15 inch cab.that has a relatively clean sound. Also it is really light.......

I use a Fender Stage 112SE, and it really honks for a 40 pound package! If you need something even lighter, a Peavey Backstage 40 is cool too, but it's not an amp for "playing out", unless it's a very small venue, or unless you're miking it.
I believe Fender has discontinued the Stage 112SE, but they're still available at about $400(new) and $200-$250(used).
