Is it possible to transfer YOUTUBE videos or just the music to Windows Media Player?

Hi Roger,

I download all YouTube videos to my harddrive, but I need a special player to view them which is OK if you view them on PC.

I tried a special software a litle while ago that lets you transfer all formats to other video formats (I used a shareware offer). The result was quite embarrasing as the quality was very, very poor. YouTube obviously compresses the videofiles, their size is about 10% of the originally uploaded file (I have uploaded several files between 50 and 80 MB, the result is always between 5 and 8 MB)

Maybe there is a satisfying way, would be great to find out!

Kind Regards, Walter

I suspect most of the YouTube clips will eventually be deleted, because they belong to others and the posting is a copyright infringement.

YouTube is now at a stage very similar to The Record Lady a few years back.

When I click on You-tube, it buffers so bad and is so fuzzy that it's not enjoyable to try to watch. Is it just me? Granted, my computer is not the fastest, but I'm on road runner high speed at work. My home computer is newer and faster and I'm on a satellite high speed service and it is the same way. I was just wondering.

What bugs me to death is that the audio and video are invariably out of sync. And it goes from bad to worse as the clip goes on.

Some files are out of sync, most are not with my system. Most are quite good.

I believe the original file has something to do with it as well as your Net connection. I have found that .mov files are NOT good, these are what is common in the low end Digi Camera's and most file conversion programs do not recognize .mov files so ya can't change them to MPEG4 or AVI before the upload.

I have very few answers but when I fooled with different file structures, this is what I learn't....

.mov = NG bad sync problems after the upload

AVI/MPEG = ok, even as low as 10 frames/sec.

Back to topic, to capture the audio, you will need an on board audio capture device. I am certain there are some free downloads out there. I use Cooledit along with the Capture card in my PC to record NET audio.

I have that jilted streaming, sometimes. If I really want to see and hear the artist, I just mute the PC and wait till it completely downloads, then I go back and replay it with no problem. Lately, tho, my patience just isn't there, and I don't bother with the whole process.

But, is there some kind of software that could enhance some of those videos? Some grainy ones are pretty tedious to watch. Too bad, too, huh?
