Moe Bandy - Artist Of The Week

Post by Petr Vitous »

A 1976 thematic album Here I Am Drunk Again full of beer and lost loves following.

Lloyd and Weldon are extremly great! Of course, ol' Pig, Spicher, Bradley and McCoy are there, too.
Welcome.

Moe sure deserves all the recognition he can get. This is as straight as honky-tonk music gets. Moe was responsible for getting me permanently hooked on hard-core country back in '76, when they played "Hank Williams, you wrote my life" on the radio. What a revelation!

I have in my possession every album Moe has ever released (to my knowledge) - that's something I can't say about any other major artist...well, except for Asleep at the Wheel.

Petr, you've missed one item in Moe's discography. I'll take a picture and compile a song list for you.

Hello Petr. The disc you missed is the CD "The Crazy Cajun Recordings", re-released on Edsel Records in 1998, NESTCD 908.

It contains these early songs, probably produced by Huey P Meaux:

As long as there's a chance
Playboy
My heart belongs to you
You're part of me
What would you do
Pleading
Too many times before
Anything for you
Lonely Girl
Still a fool for you
Hey there my friend

Not fantastic stuff by Moe's high standards, but good by anyone else's. I have e-mailed you pictures of the cover.

"Here I am, I'm Drunk Again" has one of THE all-time greatest honky-tonk lines ever written - "...I'm drunk because that you are gone."
