Clint Black on Letterman show

Post by Gary Atkinson »

Years ago I was watching Clint Black on Lettermans show. After Clint played harmonica along with the band Letterman threw his harmonica into the crowd.Clint said it was a special harmonica to him.I thought that was a very nasty thing for him to do.I haven't watched the show since.Does anyone know what happened after that, did Clint get his harmonica back, did Letterman apoligize? The way country music is treated these days reminded me of this.

Did Clint confront him about it right on the show, or was that later?

Clint didn't say anything but,you could see the fire in his eyes.Letterman said he thought it was a silly instrument.I was proud of Clint for keeping his cool and I hope he never went back.

Letterman is just a groggy old man with no class. Most of the time he's not even funny. Lucky to be "in the money" is the way I think of him, like some basketball players. But, at least the basketball players have a talent.

Rick said it for me.

Letterman is a non-entity. I have occasionally listened to his show over the past years and he has yet to say anything remotely funny or entertaining...in short, he is an "jerk".

Clint said it was a special harmonica to him.
If is was indeed "special", you can bet dollars to doughnuts he probably wouldn't take it to do a TV show in New York! It was probably all scripted that way as a stunt. Of course, even if it wasn't, I assure you that Clint has the money and means to get it back if he wanted!

Before you go all feeling sorry for someone like Clint Black, or get all defensive for Dave Letterman, keep in mind that...were the tables turned...they probably wouldn't care the least about your stuff. These guys spend more on a suit than we do on a pedal steel, amp, and everything that goes with it.

Would you guys feel sorry for Bill Gates if Jay Leno threw his favorite cell-phone into the audience?

'Course not...so stop being silly! Image

1. How many years ago did this happen to warrant a thread in Sept., 2006?

2. I'm with Donny on the "scripted" thing.

I agree with all of the above. I never thought Letterman was funny. He's inane. He thinks he's funny; and that's where the word 'ass' comes to mind.

Years ago he did a skit where he goes to a ceramics class and then makes fun of old ladies and others for doing ceramics. That's when I got tired of his schtick. Him, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, mean and not funny.

For many reasons I'd rather watch Letterman be a stupid jerk than watch Jay Leno make fun of handicapped folks. To me it quits being funny when someone is made fun of that can't help their situation.
1. Mental Retardation
2. Mental Illness
3. Physically handicapped, at least 100 different varieties.

Need I go on? I love comedy and I love to poke fun at just about any subject heck you guys have seen my posts I'm always trying to have fun and laugh but not at the expense of someone's feelings that can't stand up for themselves.

I doubt that it was scripted, Letterman is a world-class a-hole. I saw him when he first came on in '79 or '80...he was an a-hole then, now he's an older a-hole. No class, mean spirited, not funny, crude...did I mention he's a world-class a-hole?
[This message was edited by Pat Burns on 04 September 2006 at 06:22 PM.]

..Strange...I just looked at my response the next day, and it seems to lack class, it's mean spirited, it's not funny and it's crude. You don't suppose I'm related to Letterman, do you?

In the future, hope Dave doesn't throw RR's steel out into the audience.

To carry this a bit farther/furthur......

Most comedians today are blithering jerks, with no class. NO CLASS and lotsa CRASS.

A GOOD comedian never uses sex [at least in the crass way they do today] as part of his/her act.

It is the least common denominator. We all have those parts and urges. So what?

They have always been referred to as PRIVATE PARTS, and maybe they should remain so.

I find nothing humorous in blatant sexual, innuendo jokes. They offend me.

Many of our great comedians, Jackie Gleason leading the pack, always maintained that he would never stoop THAT low to do sexual jokes. It's too easy to do, and ultimately shows know prowess, integrity, wit, or smarts. Not to mention FUNNYNESS.
