Wow! There is a new series of classic country videos (43 !!!), just recently added:

Artists include Jan Howard, Elton Britt, George Morgan, Bobby Helms, Del Reeves, Sons Of The Pioneers, Hank Thompson, Ferlin Husky, Liz Anderson,....

Here is a link to get started (it is for the Jan Howard clip). When you are there, just click on the name of the user who added the clip (wburns2), then select "View All Videos" - there's 5 pages of them!

I like this one featuring Bob Wills. Twin steels...Gene Crownover and very young Maurice Anderson!

Lots of great historial clips! The 60's clip of Carl Smith with Johnny Siebert playing the Emmons ("Hey Joe"), The Porter Wagoner clip with Don Warden, Pete Drake sitting in the back ("Misery Loves Company"), spent more time watching than I planned! Image

Kind Regards, Walter

DOH!

The bob wills clip cuts off during Reece's solo. (Great stuff though).

(I never would've thought that Bob Wills ever had anything but an upright for a bass, but here someone's playing a fender jazz.)

Hi Walter- You always provide something meaningful. The Bobby Helms video was sensatio9nal. Looked like Tommy Jackson on fiddle and sounds like the BIG E on steel?

What do you say and again thanks.

Hi Gary,

Yes, I thought Tommy Jackon, too! On steel I am more tending towards Hal Rugg, too bad that there is not one single camera shot on the steel player.

Who is playing on the Cowboy Copas clip?

Kind Regards, Walter

Walter, there are some good shots of Johnny Sibert playing the 26" scale, triple Stringmaster on "Go Boy Go" __ Carl Smith.

There is a two part steel break (with lead guitar between).

The bass player in the Wills' clip is none other than Joe Andrews. Also, that is George Clayburn playing fiddle, Bobby McBay on drums, and Benny Johnson on piano. All this from Reece today. He said he also believes this video is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Fender provided the Texas Playboys with all Fender instruments. I queried him about Luke playing stand up bass and he doesn't remember that at all. But I think I've seen Luke playing doghouse at one time or another.

I did play with George Clayburn in the Lee Bell, later Jimmy Blakely, band in Roswell New Mexico in the early 50's. There was another Wills' gonna' be in that band, Eugene "Tagg" Lambert. Another fiddle player in that band, just as good as George C, was Jim "Red" Pope. He is in a retirement home here in Big Spring and in fairly good health. He is on his 5th pacemaker, that he calls his "Supercharger". Nice guy. Just some trivia for the digestion.
