I had the pleasure of having a sit in from Country Joe at a street festival in Berkeley today. It was a total hoot to do his classics with him. Real good guy.
....don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Afganistan.... He also pulled out a newer song. A waltz about Katrina. Very sweet!!

This is very bizarre. Back in 1963 or 4, Joe was president of the folk song club at college, and he and I played together there many times. At the same time, I was hanging out with Barry Melton, who later became Joe's lead guitarist. At the time the 2 didn't know each other.
But here's the really wierd part. Also at the same time, my sister in New York had a roommate named Sue, who eventually moveds to Valifornia and married Joe's keybord player.
Joe played here recently and I went to see him. He was really good, and his songs were as relevent today as they were back when.
After his performance. We chatted for a while over coffee. It was really good seeing him again.
