Martina did us Proud!

Post by James Morehead »

I was pleasantly surprised to see Martina McBride sing "You Ain't Woman Enough", on the Goodmorning America show with Katie Couric(sp?) The crowd was really enjoying the tune, and there was a nice looking clean cut young fellow playing a BEAUTIFUL Carter steelguitar. (at my age anyone under 50 is "young"! HA!)
So my point is: WAY TO GO, MARTINA!

I noticed on another thread the steeler with Matina is Wayne Dahl. So that was most likely Wayne sittin' behind that gorgeous Carter. Super tone he had, and had the "Steeler" look. HA!!

I was wandering who the Steel Player was also. Good looking Carter PSG. I saw Maritina McBride on the TODAY show this morning Friday 10/21/05 and Katie Couric was on that show. Don't think hse is with Good Morning America.

Yeah, I don't really pay attention to the morning shows, it's either channel 10 or channel 12 at our house! But my wife had the tv on, and when Martina started up, I woke up!

Late last night there was an in-the-studio special on GAC about her new country standards album, featuring all the players and duet partners, kinda interesting.

Caught her last night for a full hour on Grand Ole orpy. Paul Franklin was the Steelman and what a wonderful show!!!The other musicians and backup singers were first class. Wow!!!
Sure would be nice to tune into the Opry each week and get such amazing performance as last night. She was oustanding along with Ray Price.

Donna, have you heard Martina's version of Tammy Wynette's song "Til I Can Make It On My Own"? What an amazing song with amazing steel! Martina is definitely an amazing singer! I caught the hour long special with Paul playing. I loved the playing but there appeared to be some grainy distortion in his mix. I thought that perhaps the board preamp was being overdriven? I don't know, and I'm not being critical... Paul is my all time favorite player and he is awesome.

What a great CD; listened to it twice yesterday and again today...Hell must have frozen over!! I thought that is the only way Nashville would let a top star perform real country music. Lets hope this is the beginning...

It's funny, if you think of it. Here we are, sitting on the edge of our seats, just hoping Nashville, historicly known as the home of country music, will actually allow a Star to play real country music once in a while. Somethings wrong with this picture. Image
[This message was edited by James Morehead on 27 October 2005 at 06:20 PM.]

I haven't bought a new Country CD in a long while. I was at Wal-Mart tonight and saw the CD with DVD for $13+ and grabbed it. I'm trusting your (or you'lls) hype. Haven't watched/listened to them yet. Might wait for the weekend to give it the attention it deserves.
