More music fro Ithaca NY.. WITH mistakes!

Post by Bob Carlucci »

I really hope I'm not bugging anyone posting so much of my work lately, but I'm starting to get the hang of posting music, and I'm like a little kid wanting to show off his new tricycle.... This was done in 1992 by a band I worked with called Circle D ... Dan Speer and Dee Specker on vocals,.. Dan is a well known Ithaca singer/songwriter .. his songs are Americana and IMHO I've never heard ANYONE tell a story in a song better.. The steel is an ancient MSA that sounds like NO other MSA... LOTS of mistakes were left on this album.. My solo is an absolute BUTCHER job at first.,I pull out the second half and it resolves ok.. I totally blew it as you can hear, but there was no money left for retakes.. all mistakes and out of tune notes and chords were left on the record for what reason I'll never know.. the missed harmonics are mostly the guitar players.. NOT MINE!.. I have ENOUGH dirty socks on this song.. I not taking his too!!.. Its a nice tune, nice piece of Americana writing, and aside from the rotten first part of the solo, I'm happy with what I did.. I am quite happy to share my screwups on a public forum.. I'm not proud!!enjoy!... bob

Bob, I really enjoyed it. I think the quality, originality and character of that recording is way better than what is on commercial radio right now. Nice vocals and playing. The cool thing you are doing also is showing us how your style evolved from then 'till now. I like the moves you did then. You demonstrated a personal flare that gave me some new ideas.

Great song, and thanks for sharing.
I hope there's more to come.

Great playing Bob. Excellent tone. I thought I heard a bit o'Sneaky in the higher registers, especially your intro. Nothing wrong with that.

Great songwriting and singing, too. You oughta get back together with these folks.

Didn't hear any mistakes, really. Just a different version, right?

That's really a pretty good tune; I liked it.
I was hoping for a really exciting moment where you almost fall off the tightrope and then regain your balance, but I guess the guy with the .009's on his guitar walked on it.
I can hear your 'hippie steel' roots.
Keep posting these jewels. What else is this forum for?

The recording sounds really nice and warm through my Creative player with Disco EQ. The song has a nice chord progression. Playing sounds good. Like the duel guitar motif. Some pretty steel moments. I like the fact that the song has a small arrangement, let's the listener enjoy the music. Was the session paid for with Ithaca dollars? (or whatever they call them) LOL

Bob, I would love to hear your songs but I can only get dialup service (I live so far back in the hills that I don't get the Grand Ole Opry til sunday morning). If the file is larger than 1mb, I have to wait too long to download it.
Would you consider posting some stuff for us "hicks in the sticks"? I make all my mp3s for my website to files less than 1 mb. They are not hi-quality but they are listenable. They are converted to mp3 at a 32kb bit rate.
I did some experimenting with bit rate vs listening quality to arrive at this bit rate.
