I've come to a realization that I need to bone up on a little music history. (Thanks a lot XM radio ) Would someone please recommend a Ray Price album to study. I'm not interested in the $250 box set. Looking for something along the lines of a good "greatest hits" collection or two. CD only.
There is one called "16 Biggest Hits" and another called "The Essential RP (1951-'62)" and another "Greatest Hits" on Sony. Anybody have those? (all listed on Amazon.com)
I don't know if the ones you've just listed are ones you already have, but "The Essential Ray Price" on Columbia IS GREAT (for a comiplation CD), IMO. If you don't have it, it's surely a great place to start for the classic R.P.a.t.C.C. sound.
If ya really want to go hole hog, that is, go for all of it, get the Bear Family Records 10 CD box set. It'll cost probably $225 but it's worth every penny. Great Jimmy Day, great Buddy Emmons, and it'll bring tears to yer eyes what they do. Absolutely amazing steel work.
"Touch My Heart" has been reissued with a steel-less "Burning Memories" on a single disc. Classic Buddy!

if any of you buy 16 Biggest Hits, i would like to know if there is only one channel playing on "The Other Woman". My disck has no steel on that tune. Also get the "Other Woman" album.
Apart from the obvious vintage stuff, you just have to get "Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys Reunited", an ABC/Dot release from 1977. Buddy has never played better!

Thanks for the help!! I went with the Columbia GHs and Night Life. Along with some Buck Owens, Strait's new album, and a pre-order for Paisley's new album.
