CREAM Reunion?!?

Jimi Hendrix's brother is also playing concerts, with all of one year's playing experience under his belt; he did do lots of
drugs, though....

He claims to be channeling the spirit of Jimi. Umm, I hope I die before I get old? Wait a minute, didn't somebody already say that?

I am a huge Cream fan. They are about as big an influence on my love of music as any band was. They were way ahead of their time IMO. I still say that was some of Clapton's best work. I'd pay to go see them.

Wow, interesting news. I learded to play by deciphering Cream solos as a kid.

I attended their farewell concert at The Spectrum in Philly, circa 1969.

It's amazing Ginger is still alive and functional.

Some of the reviews I read have Ginger Baker being the biggest surprise of the evening with his playing. Pretty good they said.

Yea, Ginger has been into some very interesting and very good percussion/drum work in the past 2 decades or so. He's become quite advanced as a rhythmatist taking on some pretty heavy global influences. He's not just crawling off his couch to do this, he's way on top of his game in a very legitimate way. I'm excited by the whole Cream reunion idea. It will undoubtedly be made into a live DVD for all of us to peruse.

I did pay to see them, a couple of times back then...

I think the tickets were in the $15 range for the RKO Palace Theater in NYC just above the Village I recall.....

the tickets are probably more than that now Image

I saw Ginger play fusion jazz / world music stuff in NYC 10 or so years ago,
he was quite hot then.
Don't think he would have lost anything since then.

I saw Jack playing around tyhe same time, but more blues rock, very good too.

Met Eric in a NYC studio on a video shoot and ...
well we know how he plays..

Great to hear that they are doing a few nights out.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 03 May 2005 at 07:51 AM.]

My brother saw them at The Cafe Wah in Greenich Village in the late sixties. No alcohol. Just cider and coffee. My brother had his feet leaning on the stage from his chair. There were 40 people in the audience. I rememeber him coming home and raving to me about them. I hope they tour. I'll be there. Thats a $100.00 ticket.
[This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 03 May 2005 at 09:46 AM.]

[This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 03 May 2005 at 09:47 AM.]

Hey Crowbear !!YES!! That was one of the shows I'm talking about. Actuaally the first show of the week was the first gig that Cream played in the USA !

I don't remember seeing you though..did you see me ?

We actually snuk our way backstage and ended up talking with Peter Townshend and then Wilson Pickitt as well...We tried to find EC but he was not around.

Great memory for us young noodling musicians at the time...

After that show we went to the Garrick Theater to see Frank Zappa..again....

we were very lucky to grow up and live only a 40 minute train ride to NYC...we hung out there probably 2 weekends out of every month...I guess we were Hooligans !

I bought my first Beatle album in 1965. I was in the 2nd grade. i never thought anyone could be affect me as much as they did. But along came Cream. My whole world changed again. I had never heard a drummer like that, a bass player like that, and Clapton of course blew me away. I remember The Who got my attention shortly after Cream came out. Then Hendrix shortly after that. But in my opinion, Cream started it all. I wish them nothing but success.

Ginger shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone... he has been consistently made great jazz records and done some great experimental stuf as well. Bruce was the one that surprised me...

Kevin, I don't think there's a chance in heck tickets would be any less than $200 and up. That being said, I think I'd shell that out in a heartbeat to see them!!!!!!

Jason, close..

make that the "Electric Flag"...

alng with Harvey Brooks and Mike Bloomfield as well...

I think the years thing is more of just gettin' the appropriate time window...

When Buddy formed his own band several years later, ( Buddy Miles Exprss ) my friend from the town we grew up in, Charlie Karp, was hired on to play Lead Guitar and toured with Buddy I guess right up until Buddy was busted and arrested. It was a hoot to see Charlie standin' on the Fillmore East stage with his Les Paul and his Marshall Stack behind him...

Charlie smoked.."Them Changes" was one of his first sessions...

we could go on and on about this stuff..all us..
